What is a Time Sync Error
A time sync error can occur between your GPS devices and the Vector Live iPad App. This time sync error occurs when the time stamp on the GPS device that was obtained from the connection to the GNSS system is different from the current time on your iPad. It is imperative for running a Live Activity in Outdoor mode that these times match, so as to ensure all metrics are received accurately.
How to avoid a Time Sync Error
1. Ensure the Devices have achieved GPS Lock
If the Vector Devices haven't achieved GPS lock, the timestamp on the Device may not be up to date. Ensure your devices have connected to GPS as a first check before proceeding to the next trouble shooting steps. GPS lock is indicated by a solid green GPS icon on the Vector Device.
2. Syncing your iPad with Internet Time
A time sync error can occur if the time on your iPad differs from the time on your computer, and if the time on your computer isn't synced to internet time when the Vector Devices were last connected to the computer (Step 3). To ensure that your computer is synced to internet time, please see our Avoiding a Time Sync Error (OpenField Console) article. Please ensure this has been completed before step 3.
To sync the iPad to internet time, please follow these steps.
- Navigate to the Settings App
- Select General from the left hand menu
- Ensure Set Automatically is turned on.
3. Connecting the Devices to the computer
Please see the guide Connecting Devices to your Computer for more information on how to connect your devices to a computer. It is also important to note that OpenField must be open on the computer in order for the devices to sync to internet time.
