What are Work Rate Intervals?
Work Rate Intervals (WRI) are defined periods of time (i.e 60 seconds) in which an Athlete has accumulated more distance than a predefined distance threshold (i.e 100m). For example, the user can identify and analyze each 60 second (duration threshold) interval in which the accumulated distance is over 100 meters (distance threshold). Work Rate Intervals can be detected and analyzed both Live and Post Activity.
How are Work Rate Intervals applicable?
Work Rate Intervals enable the user to identify and analyze specific demands placed on an athlete over a defined duration of time throughout an Activity. Quantifying these periods in a match context provides valuable information that can be used to set benchmarks or targets in training for an Athlete's Work Load. Subsequently, analysis of Work Rate Intervals in training can help athlete monitoring and training prescription by enabling users to answer questions such as:
-
How often did the Athlete accumulate over 100 meters within 30 seconds? How did those Work Rate Intervals compare to their Work Rate Intervals in a match?
-
Which training drills can I include to ensure athletes are exposed to Work Rate Intervals that will meet or exceed those in a match?
How to set up Work Rate Intervals?
-
The OpenField WorkRate module must be applied to your OpenField account. If you wish to add the module to your account, please contact support for assistance.
-
The user must have OpenField console version 3.3+ installed on their computer.
-
Work Rate Interval Duration (sec) and Distance (m) can be set in the OpenField Cloud:
-
Navigate to the OpenField Cloud > Settings > Teams.
-
Click on the Team you want to set the Distance and Duration for.
-
Navigate to Work Rate Duration Threshold and Work Rate Distance Threshold.
-
In the text box below each, enter in the duration and distance you want for the Work Rate Interval (i.e. 60 seconds and 100 meters).
-
Complete a Fast Sync from the OpenField console to sync these changes made in the Cloud onto the Console.
- If the Work Rate Interval duration or distance is changed at any time, you will need Fast Sync and Bake the Activity to allow the changes to take effect in the Console.
-
Detecting and Viewing Work Rate Intervals in the OpenField Console
Detecting and analyzing Work Rate Intervals in OpenField Console can be done Live or Post Activity.
To view Work Rate Intervals during a Live Data Capture:
-
During or before a Live Activity, create a new table widget. See Console Widgets for more information.
-
Navigate to the widget Settings > Parameters and select the Work Rate parameter group.
-
Add any Work Rate parameters you want to track live or post. These parameter will populate during a Live Data Capture.
To view Work Rate Intervals Post Activity:
-
Open the Activity with the OpenField Console.
-
In any Dashboards, right click on any white space on the Dashboard > Select New Widget > Select Efforts / Events > Select WorkRate. See Console Widgets for more information.
-
Select the athlete(s) from the drop down menus to view data for each individual athlete. Clicking on each Interval will bring the Player Head to the start of the Interval, this allows for alignment with any imported video. Please see our How to Sync Video with GPS data for Analysis for more information.
-
Fast Sync from the OpenField Console to send data to the Cloud for analysis.
- Work Rate Intervals will can be exported to a CSV through the Widget > Settings > Basics Tab > Select CSV.
Viewing Work Rate Intervals on the OpenField Cloud
Analyzing Work Rate Intervals in the OpenField Cloud can only be done post Activity.
-
Navigate to the OpenField Cloud and click the Settings icon for the widget you want to use to view the data.
-
From the Parameters Tab, select any metric from the Work Rate category.
Widget Settings > Parameter Tab > Work Rate > select any Parameter.
-
Load the appropriate Activity(s) and view the Data in the widget.
