What is Football Movement Profile (FMP)?
Football Movement Profile (FMP) developed by Catapult uses inertial sensor derived algorithms to detect Football specific movements and categorize them into multi directional (dynamic) and steady state (linear) categories as well as different intensities (low, medium, high).
Identification of these movements allows for better insights on mechanical work done by Athletes during an Activity. Thereby, allowing practitioners to make more informed decisions on load management both live and post Activity.
FMP movements can be categorized into the following Movement Categories:
FMP parameters can be captured both LIVE and POST Activity.
How to set up FMP?
- The FootballMovementProfile module must be applied to your account. If you want to add the module please contact support for assistance.
For Post Activity Data Analysis
- Download OpenField Console Build 3.1+. For instructions on how to download the latest OpenField Build, click here.
- Data is collected by a Vector Device S7, G7 or X7.
For Live Activity Data Analysis
- Download OpenField Console Build 3.3+. For instructions on how to download the latest OpenField Build, click here.
- Vector Device S7, G7 or X7 with Device Firmware 7.1+.
Detecting and Viewing FMP Metrics in the OpenField Console
FMP data is available both LIVE and POST activity in the OpenField Console. To view FMP data for past Activities captured by Vector Devices, please reprocess/bake the Activity after activating Football Movement Profile for your account. For instructions on how to reprocess/bake historical data, please see our Baking Activities guide.
Graphing FMP Movements
- Open the Activity with the OpenField console.
-
Navigate to the Active Players box and right click on the Player you want to graph FMP movements for. Select 'FMP Layer'.
-
Hover over each segment for a summary of each FMP 1 second movement categorization.
Viewing FMP Parameters in the OpenField Console
- Create a new Dashboard if desired.
- In any Dashboard, create a new Default Table. From the table widget's settings, select the Parameters Tab then select any FMP parameters from under the Football Movement Profile category. See Console Widgets for more information.
- Sync from the OpenField Console to send data to the Cloud for analysis.
Viewing FMP Metrics on OpenField Cloud
Detecting and analyzing FMP Metrics in the OpenField Cloud can be done Live and post Activity.
- Navigate to the OpenField cloud and click the Settings gear icon on the widget you want to modify.
- From the Settings menu click the Parameters Tab and then select any metric from the 'Football Movement Profile' category.
Widget Settings > Parameter Tab > Football Movement Profile > Select any Parameter. - Load the appropriate Activity(s) or start a New Activity and view the Data in the widget.
