Catapult has engineered the Basketball Movement Profile (BMP), which quantifies and categorises every type of basketball movement on the court to help coaches make better decisions for their athletes and identify the causes of performance strain with more accuracy. It uses the inertial sensors inside the device to provide absolute and relative time spent in the five movement categories:
- Active
- Running
- Dynamic
- Jumping
- Passive
Identification of these movements allows for better insights on mechanical work done by athletes during an activity. Thereby, allowing practitioners to make more informed decisions on load management.
