WHAT IS THE CLOUD EDITOR?
The new ‘Editor’ tab in the OpenField Cloud will allow you to create, edit, and delete periods directly on the web, along with other activity editing functionalities.
The Cloud Editor means you won't need to switch back from the OpenField Cloud to the OpenField Console to make changes to your activity, saving you time and allowing you to edit your activities from anywhere, on any device!
What can I do in the Cloud Editor?
The Cloud Editor allows you to make changes to many aspects of your activity, including:
- Renaming an activity
- Assigning or changing the activity day code tag
- Mapping or unmapping a device to an athlete for an activity
- Graphing athlete(s) velocity, player load or heart rate data
- Creating, editing and deleting periods
- Adding and removing athletes from periods
- Adding and editing rotations applied to athletes
- Applying and editing activity participation tags applied to athletes
- View and delete annotations
Will my activity data update and be reprocessed after I make edits?
Whenever any edit is made to an activity in the Cloud Editor, OpenField Cloud will automatically begin an 'Activity Reprocess' (also known as a 'Rebake'), so that athlete data is re-aggregated based on changes made to the activity, for example if a Period has changed start and end time or if a new period has been created.
This Cloud reprocessing means that you do not need to go back down to OpenField Console to reprocess athlete data, and your reports will automatically update with the most up-to-date aggregated data!
The reprocessing happens automatically in the background, so you are free to continue on using OpenField Cloud for anything else in the meantime!
The time taken to reprocess an activity is dependent on how much data is present in the activity, along with the number of athletes, periods and annotations.
Catapult is working on developing an 'Activity Reprocessing Status' so that you can view if a given activity is still reprocessing, or if reports are ready to display updated data!
Will my 'activity updated' webhooks fire after I make a cloud edit?
Yes! Any 'Activity Updated' webhooks you have configured and enabled will fire after:
- An activity is edited in the cloud, such as updating or changing Periods
- When the reprocessing of data has completed
For more information on webhooks see OpenField Webhooks and our Connect API documentation
The 'Activity Updated' webhook will also fire automatically once the cloud reprocessing has completed, and will contain 'summary-data' in the payload, indicating that the summary data is now up to date and can be retrieved in subsequent API calls.
What can't I do just yet on the Cloud Editor?
With the release of the Cloud Editor, Catapult is able to develop and release updates and fixes on a much faster schedule, meaning you will get more and more value much faster over time!
During the initial release of the Cloud Editor, there may be a few edits or actions you perform on your activities from time to time that you will still need to use OpenField Console for.
For more information on how Activities behave when edited on both OpenField Console and Cloud, see Editing Activities with Cloud Editor and OpenField Console
Some limitations you might need to be aware of with the Cloud Editor include:
-
Flagging bad data or applying 'Flagged Regions'. We are working on adding this functionality to the Cloud editor - for now, please see Flagging Data for more information on how to flag data in OF Console
- Editing Dual Stream Activities. Full support for editing Dual Stream Activities will be added to the Cloud editor soon. For now, it is recommended that Dual Stream Activities are edited on OpenField Console!
