Available in: Power App 1.9
Applies to: Vector 8 Dock
Overview
Power App 1.9 introduces Auto Sleep / Wake functionality for the Vector 8 Dock.
When the Dock is idle and connected to mains power, it automatically enters a low-power Standby mode. This feature is designed to preserve battery health and minimize heat accumulation, particularly when the Dock remains plugged in overnight.
While in Standby, the Dock periodically wakes to check for and apply queued updates, including:
- Firmware updates
- Configuration changes
- Athlete mappings
- Alarms
This process is fully automatic and requires no user intervention.
How Auto Sleep / Wake Works
After 90 minutes of inactivity, the Dock enters Standby mode.
It subsequently follows a repeating cycle as outlined below:
- The Dock wakes every 2 hours
- It connects to Wi-Fi and checks for pending updates or changes
- It remains awake for a minimum of 5 minutes
- If no further activity is detected, it returns to Standby
The inactivity timer resets whenever the Dock is actively engaged. Uploads, firmware updates, configuration changes, and other active processes will maintain the Dock in an awake state until completion.
Dock Status Indicators
Dock Button LED
| LED Colour | Dock Status |
|---|---|
| White | Dock is powered on |
| Orange | Dock is in Standby mode |
| Off | Dock is fully powered off while operating on battery |
Fan Activity
You may observe the fan operating briefly for approximately five seconds when the Dock wakes or returns to Standby. This behavior is normal and expected.
Using the Dock Button
When Connected to Mains Power
While connected to mains power, the Dock button toggles the Dock between On and Standby modes. The Dock does not fully power off when connected to mains power.
| Current State | Action | Result |
| On — white LED | Press the Dock button | Enters Standby — orange LED |
| Standby — orange LED | Press the Dock button | Wakes and powers on — white LED |
When Operating on Battery
While operating on battery power, pressing the Dock button fully powers the Dock off.
Additionally, the Dock will automatically power off after 90 minutes of inactivity when operating on battery.
Recommended Workflows
Charging the Dock Overnight
To place the Dock in Standby mode before leaving it overnight, please follow these steps:
- Connect the Dock to mains power
- Press the Dock button
- Verify that the button LED is orange
- Leave the Dock connected overnight
The Dock will periodically wake to apply queued firmware updates, configurations, athlete mappings, and alarms before returning to Standby.
Alternatively, you may leave the Dock powered on; it will automatically enter Standby after 90 minutes of inactivity.
Sending Alarms or Configuration Changes Before Training
Please note that changes sent while the Dock is in Standby may not be applied until its next scheduled wake window, which can take up to 2 hours.
To ensure changes are applied prior to training, please follow these steps:
- Press the Dock button to wake the device
- Confirm that the button LED is white
- Verify that the Wi-Fi LED is illuminated
- Wait for the Dock to complete synchronization
- Confirm via the application that alarms or configuration changes have been applied
- Unplug the Dock once it is ready
