What are Power States?
Power States are the different conditions that the Vector 8 Dock can be in. Each condition has different levels of feature availability, and accompanying different levels of power consumption.
There are three Power States on the Vector 8 Dock:
Power State - On
When the Vector 8 Dock is On, it has full functionality. The On state is indicated by a Solid White Power Button LED.
In this state, the Dock can:
- Charge the Dock Battery (when connected to a power source)
- Charge connected devices (when connected to a power source)
- Connect to the PC via USB-C for data download and device configuration
- Connect the Dock to a WiFi network and communicate via IoT
- Connect the Dock to the Vector 8 Mobile Application
Power State - Standby
When the Vector 8 Dock is in Standby, it is in a low power state. Standby is only available when the Dock is connected to a power source, and is indicated by a Breathing Orange Power Button LED.
While in this State, the Dock can:
- Charge the Dock Battery
- Charge connected devices
Power State - Off
When the S8 Dock is Off, it retains no functionality. The dock is in a completely powered down state and is unable to interact with devices or the PC.
How to turn my Dock On
Pressing the Power Button will turn the Dock on from both Standby and Off, with the LEDs flashing white as the Dock powers on. This process will take ~20-30 seconds. Once the dock has finished powering on, the LEDs will stop flashing and the Power Button will remain Solid White.
How to put my Dock into Standby Mode
Standby Mode is only available when the Vector 8 Dock has a connected power source.
There are two methods for your Vector 8 Dock to enter Standby Mode, depending on if it is initially On or Off:
- If the Vector 8 Dock is On and the the Power Button is pressed, it will enter Standby Mode
- If the Vector 8 Dock is Off and a power source is connected, the Dock will transition into Standby
When the dock enters Standby, the LEDs will flash orange. Once only the Power Button is Breathing Orange, the Dock is in Standby.
How to turn my Dock Off
When the Dock does not have power connected, pressing the power button will turn the Dock off.
Additionally, if a Vector 8 Dock is left On with no power source for 60 minutes, it will automatically power off.
When turning off, the LEDs will flash white then slowly turn off until the Dock has completely powered down.
When the Dock is off, no LEDs on the dock will be illuminated.
