Vector T7 can be positioned in the pouch sewn onto the inside of athletic shorts or onto the outside of the athletes compression garment.
Location
- The Vector T7 pouch can be placed inside the athletes shorts or outside the athletes compression garment.
- It should be attached on the front hip, 6-10 centimetres / 2-4 inches left or right from the athlete’s centreline (e.g. belly button). Either hip is acceptable, but please see the below recommendations.
Important:- For consistency of analytics, all athletes on a team must use the same positioning, left or right. We recommend to use the right hand-side.
- For optimum performance we recommend attaching the pouch to compression shorts/pants to reduce the amount of movement of the device.
Sewing Machine Settings
- A Lockstitch (stitch type 301), otherwise known as a straight stitch, should be used when attaching the pouch to your chosen garment.
- Lockstitch doesn't have stretch to it so it is advised to follow the guides below to ensure that your garment doesn't lose elasticity and the attachment stitches don't rip.
Thread
- As neoprene is not highly elastic, a polyester core spun yarn should work. Example: https://www.amann.com/products/product/saba/
Needle
- The needle size that can be used depends on the material of the garment on which the pouch is sewn. To avoid damaging the material, do not choose a needle that is too thick. The thread size can be selected according to the possible needle size.
-
For example: For "Amann Saba 100", the minimum needle size would be Nm 80.
Additional note: as the neoprene is quite sturdy, not all machines will have the combination of needle flexibility and strength to both penetrate the surface and accomplish the required stitching pattern.
Compression Shorts/Pants Guide
- Stitch the pouch to the outside of the compression garment, making sure to only stitch diagonal lines in the corners of the pouch.
- Place the pouch so that the top of the pouch is slightly below the top of the waistband of the garment either to the left or the right.
- DO NOT stitch the pouch opening to the short, as this would prevent placing the T7 device into the shorts.
- Sew diagonal lines in the corners of the pouch making sure not to sew into the pouch cavity itself.
Athletic Shorts Guide
- Stitch the pouch to the inside of the shorts, making sure to only stitch the left and right edges of the pouch.
- Place the pouch so that the top of the pouch is slightly below the top of the waistband of the shorts either to the left or the right.
- DO NOT stitch the pouch opening to the short, as this would prevent placing the T7 device into the shorts.
- When sewing on the pouch, this should be done as close as possible to the material edge.
- Sew a single vertical line along left and right side of the pouch leaving the top and bottom open. This allows for the width of the garment to stretch.
Device Placement in the Pouch
- Slide the Vector T7 device vertically into the top of the pouch. The device should be oriented such that the LED lights face away from the athlete's body.
- For more details about the device placement please see How to Put Vector Devices into the Garment.
- For the most accurate results, it is important to set the correct Device Location before processing device data. Please see How to Detect Indoor Analytics for more details.
