How to Detect Ice Hockey Goalie Analytics

What are Catapult's Ice Hockley Goalie Analytics?

Catapult's Ice Hockey Goalie Analytics is a unique set of metrics that allows you to quantity the volume and intensity of ice hockey goalie movements on the ice. Our algorithm allows you to detect active movements such as down counts, left and right lateral movements, and overall goalie load.

Requirements

• Vector S7, G7 or ClearSky T6 device(s) to detect goalie metrics post activity.
• OpenField console software version 3.4+.
• IceHockeyModule module applied to your account. Please contact support to have these modules enabled for your account.
• Athlete's position must have abbreviation 'G' or 'GK'. 

How to set up an Athlete's Position to detect Goalie metrics

1. From the OpenField Cloud, navigate to Settings > Positions and click Edit beside the 'Goalie' position. If there isn't a 'Goalie' position, click Add Position. Whether it is a new or edited position, ensure the abbreviation is set to 'G' or 'GK'.

   

2. From the OpenField Cloud, navigate to Settings > Athletes. Click Edit for the athlete that you would like to setup as a goalie and ensure their position is set to the position edited or created in step 1.

   

3. Ensure the position history for the athlete covers the activities that you wish to detect goalie metrics for. To do this, select Edit History under the positions drop down from the Athlete's menu.

   

4. In the OpenField Console, run a Sync.

1. Download data from the Vector device(s) or reprocess existing raw files from S7, G7 or T6 devices. For more information, please see Downloading Data from devices and Reprocessing Raw Files/Session Data.
2. Open the downloaded activity, right click on the activity timeline > Reprocess/Bake Activity > Fast to complete a fast bake.

3. To view the default ice hockey goalie dashboard, click the + button on the dashboard bar > User > Goalie Summary.

   

4. To view ice hockey goalie metrics in any widget select any of the parameters listed under the Ice Hockey Goalie category from the parameter picker.

   

5. Complete a sync from the OpenField Console to send data to the cloud for analysis.

Viewing Ice Hockey Goal Metrics on OpenField Cloud

1. Navigate to the OpenField Cloud and create a cloud widget with any of the parameters under the Ice Hockey Goalie category and load the appropriate activities.
