What is Computer Up Time
It is the amount of time that the computer has been running between shut downs or restarts. Please note that closing the lid or putting the computer to sleep does not reset the up time.
Why is it Important?
A computer up time that spans day, weeks, or even months can severely impact routine operations for both the computer as well as the OpenField software.
How to View your Computer's Up Time
-
Right click on your task bar and select 'Task Manager'.
-
Click the 'Performance' tab to review your computer's current up time.
Ideally we would like this to be less than 24hrs.
How to Reduce your Computer's Up Time
Having the fast startup featured enabled on the computer can prevent a reset of the Up Time. To adjust this setting you first must go into your power settings.
-
Search power settings on your task bar and select “Power & Sleep Settings”.
-
From the 'Power & Sleep Settings', scroll down and select the 'Additional power settings' options.
-
Once in the power options window, from the left hand menu, select the “Choose what the power buttons do” option.
-
Once the next menu, select the “Change settings that are currently unavailable” option. Please note that depending on your system security, you may need administrator credentials to access this menu.
-
Ensure that “Turn on Fast startup” is not activated, and does not have a check mark next to it.
-
Restart or shut down your computer. The up time will now reset.
It is recommended that you shutdown or restart the computer daily at either the beginning or end of your day.
