What is the Ice Hockey Analytic Suite?
The Ice Hockey Analytics Suite developed by Catapult uses inertial sensor derived algorithms to detect Ice Hockey specific events, such as Hockey strides and Bouts. Identification of these events allows for host of Ice Hockey specific Parameters to be defined. Thereby, allowing practitioners to make more informed decisions on load management whilst also providing Ice Hockey specific performance insights.
How to setup the Ice Hockey Analytic Suite?
-
An OpenField Ice Hockey module must be applied to your account. If you want to add the module please contact support for assistance.
-
Set the Hockey Bout Dwell Time (Seconds) and the Hockey Player Load Bout Threshold:
Hockey Bout Dwell Time - The amount in times in seconds in which the duration of a Hockey Bout must be in order for it to be considered a Hockey Bout. Hockey Bouts are defined by a period of time in in which an Athlete conducts a movement above a specific Intensity threshold and maintains it for longer than a minimum duration threshold
Hockey Player Load Bout Threshold - The minimum amount of Player Load obtained during a Hockey Bout in order for the Bout to register as a Hockey Bout.
-
Navigate to the OpenField Cloud > Settings > Teams.
-
Click the Team you want to set the Dwell Time and Threshold for.
-
Scroll down and set the Hockey Bout Dwell Time (Seconds) and the Hockey Player Load Bout Threshold.
-
-
Set the Stride Force Bands. Stride Force Bands can be set by following the steps in our Bands article. Please select Stride Force as the parameter from the drop down menu.
- Ensure the Athlete's weight is correctly set in the OpenField cloud. This is to ensure proper calculation of parameters that take weight into consideration. To set the weight of the athlete, please follow these steps:
-
Navigate to the OpenField Cloud > Settings > Athletes.
-
Click edit beside the Athlete you want to change the weight of.
-
From the Edit menu, navigate to Weight in kilograms and enter in the weight of the Athlete
- Click Save Changes.
