What are Bands?
Bands are metric-specific zones assigned to athletes to help analyse performance data in greater detail.
They allow metrics such as Velocity, Acceleration, and Player Load to be broken down into ranges (bands), making it easier to monitor intensity levels and review performance across training sessions and matches.
For example, velocity bands can separate movement into low, moderate, and high-speed running zones.
Setting Bands for Athletes
Follow these steps to configure bands for one or more athletes.
-
Open the Band settings
- Log in to OpenField Cloud.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Click Bands from the Settings menu.
-
Filter athletes
Use the Filter Athletes search bar to find athletes by:
- Athlete name
- Team
- Position
-
Select the parameter and metric
- Under Global Bands select the parameter you want to configure from the dropdown menu (for example, Velocity or Acceleration).
- Select the metric unit for the bands (for example, metres per second or kilometres per hour).
-
Configure band ranges
Enter the value ranges for each band.
For example,
Band 1: range: 0-5
Band 2: range: 5-10
Important guidelines:
-
The exit threshold of one band must match the entry threshold of the next band.
Example, if Band 1 = | 0 | 5 | then the subsequent band must be Band 2 = | 5 | 10 |
- You can choose how many bands to use per metric.
- Set a band to 0 if it is not required.
-
Select athletes
To apply bands:
- Ensure the checkbox next to the athlete’s name is selected.
- Deselect an athlete by clearing the checkbox.
-
Apply the bands
Click Apply To Selected Athletes.
-
Sync to the OpenField Console
Run a Console Sync to download the changes to the OpenField Console. See OpenField Sync for instructions.
Setting Relative Bands for Athletes
For Heart Rate and Velocity, bands can be defined as a percentage of the athlete’s maximum value.
-
Open the band configuration
Navigate to the Heart Rate or Velocity bands.
-
Enable percentage mode
Tick Use Percentage.
-
Enter percentage ranges
Define the band ranges using percentages of the athlete’s maximum value.
-
Select athletes
Ensure the checkbox is ticked next to each athlete you want to apply the bands to.
-
Apply the bands
Click Apply to Selected Athletes.
-
Sync to Console
Run a Console Sync so the updated bands are applied to the OpenField Console.
Note: If Use Percentage is unticked after applying bands, each athlete’s band values will display numerical values calculated from their individual maximum profile values. For information about setting Max Heart Rate or Max Velocity, see the Athletes article.
Additional Information
