The OpenField Console version 3.12.0 and Vector Live app version 2.9.0 allow you to detect Metabolic Power parameters live, including new Distance parameters for High Metabolic Load.
This article outlines how to configure Metabolic Power settings for your OpenField Account for both live capture and post-download review of Metabolic Power.
Metabolic Power settings
Metabolic Power bands
For instructions on how to set Bands for Metabolic Power, please see our Bands article. You will be able to set bands for Metabolic Power in the Metabolic Power dropdown option.
High Metabolic Load Distance (HMLD) Threshold
The HMLD Threshold setting determines the Metabolic Power an athlete requires to reach before High Metabolic Load Distance is accumulated.
By default, the HMLD Threshold value will be set to 25.5 W/kg.
The HMLD Threshold is set at the Team level and will apply to all athletes within that team, and can be configured on OpenField Cloud:
- Log in to OpenField Cloud and navigate to Settings > Teams > select the Edit button next to the desired team.
- Scroll down to the High Metabolic Load Distance Threshold (W/kg) and enter the desired value.
- Hit Save Changes.
- Connect your devices to OpenField Console, and perform a Sync to set the updated threshold to devices or to reprocess historical data with the updated threshold.
Metabolic Power Effort Dwell Times
The Metabolic Power Dwell Time is the duration in seconds that must be maintained within a certain Metabolic Power Band for an effort to be detected.
The dwell time is set at the Team level and will apply to all athletes within that team, and can be configured on OpenField Cloud:
- Log in to OpenField Cloud and navigate to Settings > Teams > select the Edit button next to the desired team.
- Scroll down to the Metabolic Power Dwell Time (Seconds) and enter the desired value.
- Hit Save Changes.
- Perform a Sync in OpenField Console for the dwell time to apply to future activities or to reprocess historical data with the updated threshold.
Metabolic Power Athlete Thresholds for Vector Live iPad App
Metabolic Power parameters can be added to Athlete Thresholds in OpenField Cloud, and subsequently used during live activities in the Vector Live app. For more information see Athlete Thresholds and How to setup athlete thresholds.
Configuring Devices with Metabolic Power Settings
After updating Metabolic Power band settings or HMLD Threshold settings in the Cloud, you must ensure these settings are applied to your devices in order for accurate collection of live Metabolic Power.
Metabolic Power settings will be applied to connected devices in OpenField Console that are mapped to athletes.
- Update Metabolic Power band settings or HMLD Threshold setting in Cloud.
- Connect devices to OpenField Console and ensure devices are mapped to athletes.
- Perform a Sync to sync down settings and have them applied to devices.
