How do I toggle Athletes In/Out of an Activity?
The Vector Smartphone app is optimized for use with small groups in close proximity. It is generally recommended to use it with less than 10 athletes at one time. To manage the number of devices in large group sessions, it is important to toggle devices out of the activity and leave only the devices of interest in. For example, in a full squad training session with 6 rehab athletes that need to be monitored live and another 20 full training athletes, the 20 full training athletes need to toggled out of the activity to allow effective tracking of rehab athletes using the app. Devices toggled out of the activity will not show up on the data screen, and will not be scanned for updates as often. To select which devices are tracked using the app, devices can be toggled in and out of an activity.
- Tap the Vector Device Tab to view the Detected Devices and Device information.
- Tap on a device to select the device you want to toggle out of Activity.
- Click 'Toggle' at the bottom of the screen.
- Device will now be toggled out of activity.

How many devices/athletes can the Vector Smartphone App track?
The Vector Smartphone App is designed to make Live Player Data more accessible for small group training and rehabilitation athletes. Catapult recommends tracking a maximum of 10 devices live in the Smartphone app. To maintain this number of devices, in large group sessions, it is important to toggle devices out of the activity and leave only the devices of interest in.
Does the Data collected on the Vector App sync to the OpenField Console?
No, the data itself does not sync across to the OpenField Console, however the Activity and Period(s) created can be synced to your OpenField Console for use/analysis Post Device Download.
What is the Maximum Range of the Vector App to the Devices?
The Vector Smartphone App utilizes Bluetooth to communicate with the Vector Devices. There is an approximate maximum communication range of about 50 metres, in good conditions.
Can I create concurrent Periods in an Activity on the App?
Only 1 Period can be Live at a time. If a Period is stopped, it cannot be restarted. Instead, a new Period will be created.
What Data is collected by the Smartphone App?
The Vector Smartphone App displays accumulated and instantaneous data from when a Period is created in an Activity, therefore when a Period is created, all data values will get reset to 0.
The parameters that are collected by the Smartphone App include:
-
Total Distance
-
High Speed Distance
-
Velocity Effort Count
-
Acceleration & Deceleration Count
-
Max Velocity
-
% Max Velocity
-
Player Load
-
Red Zone minutes
-
Instantaneous Heart Rate
Why are some Data Values different from the Console or Apple Watch?
- Device holds Instantaneous Data for 90 seconds before being overwritten
Max Velocity is held onto the Device for 90 seconds before being overwritten. As long as the Vector Device(s) is seen by the Smartphone App within 90 seconds of achieving a Max Velocity, the Smartphone App will display the achieved Max Velocity.
If the Vector Device is not seen within 90 seconds of achieving a max Velocity then this data may not be displayed on the Smartphone App. The user won't be able to see this data until the Vector Device is downloaded post session.
For example, if an athlete is out of range (50 meters) of the Smartphone App for 95 seconds and the athlete hits a Max Velocity within the first 5 seconds of being out a range, the max Velocity will not be seen by the Smartphone App. To avoid this from happening, please ensure the Devices are consistently within Range of the Smartphone App. - Periods are created when Device(s) are Out of Range of the Smartphone App
If the Vector Devices are out of the Bluetooth range when a Period is created on the App, the Device will think that all Data accumulated since the last time the Smartphone App connected with the Vector Device is assigned to the new Period.
For example, if Device 1 & 2 go out of range for 3 min and accumulate 300m of distance and a Period is created on the Smartphone App after 2 mins of these Devices going out of range, when the Device reconnects with the Smartphone App the 300m of Distance will get added to the Total Distance for the Period for those Devices.
To avoid this from happening, please ensure all Devices are within Bluetooth range when creating a new Period.
