Vector 8 Docks require internet connectivity for many of the key workflows.
To use Vector 8 with networks that have a Captive Portal, you will need to provide your IT administrator with the Vector 8 Dock(s) MAC address.
At launch, the Vector 8 Dock MAC address is only available after First Time Setup.
What is a Captive Portal network?
A captive portal is a web page that appears when you first connect to WiFi, requiring you to log in or accept terms before getting internet access.
How Allowlisting works
The network administrator manually adds your device’s MAC address to a list that:
- Bypasses the captive portal, granting full internet access
- Recognises the device as trusted or exempt from the portal
Where to find the Vector 8 Dock MAC address
Vector 8 Dock MAC address is available from the Hardware info page, after registering your Dock. You can share this straight from the app by pressing the share button.
Configuring the Internet Connection for a allowlisted Dock
Once allowlisted you can configure your Dock’s internet connection to the network the device has been allowlisted for.
See Managing Vector 8 Dock WiFi Connections guide to learn how to set up new WiFi networks.
