How to Add an SMT Connection

An SMT Connection can be added, edited or deleted from the Connections screen in OpenField Cloud settings. The SMT Connection requires a one-time setup before any new data available on the SMT API is automatically imported.

Walkthrough

Minimum Required OpenField Console Version

Before adding an SMT Connection and to ensure syncing compatibility with OpenField Console, please download and install OpenField Console version 3.12.0 or higher for your account.

How to Add an SMT Connection

1. Log in to OpenField Cloud.
2. Ensure SMT playerId tags are applied to your athletes. See Applying SMT PlayerId tags for more information.

3. Navigate to Settings > Connections.

   Note: the Connections screen is enabled on your account by support. If this is not available please Contact Support to have this enabled.

   
   

4. Click the + Connection button in the top right corner to navigate to the Add Connection screen.
5. In Select Connection Type, select Sports Media Technology (SMT).
   
   
6. Add in your Team Id. Your Team Id is your team’s 3 letter abbreviation (see SMT Team Ids below).

7. Review the # of SMT playerIds that are applied to athletes on your account. Check the box to confirm you have reviewed your athlete’s playerId tags, or make any required changes. See Applying SMT playerId tags for more information.

   Note: if you have just added or updated playerId tags, please refresh your web page and follow steps 2 onwards to have an updated tag count.

   
    

8. Click Add Connection. This will perform a test with the SMT API to ensure your connection is able to authenticate. Your SMT API Credentials are stored by Catapult against your OpenField account, and this is managed by Catapult Support.

   If you are unable to add your SMT Connection, please contact Support.
9. The Connections screen will show a list of added Connections. The Last Used column shows when the SMT Connection last polled the SMT API for any new games for your Team ID, which occurs every 5 minutes.
