In order for the SMT Connection to associate athlete data in the SMT API with athlete profiles in your OpenField account, your athletes must be tagged with their NHL unique 'playerId'.
Applying SMT PlayerId tags to Athletes
- Log in to OpenField Cloud.
- Navigate to Settings > Tags and confirm the
playerId
tag group is available for your account.
Note: this tag group is enabled by Catapult Support. If this tag group does not appear on your account, please contact Support to have this enabled.
- Navigate to the NHL website and load the roster for your team.
Official Site of the National Hockey League | NHL.com
- Each player’s
playerId
can be determined from their profile page on the NHL website.
This can be found by either:
- Hovering over the player’s name and noting the number that appears in the bottom left of the browser, or
- Clicking their name and finding their ID in the URL.
In the example below this player’s ID is 8477930
- Alternatively, if a player is not on the active roster they can be searched in the 'Players' section on the NHL website.
The player's ID will appear on hover or in the URL if selected.
- Add each player’s playerId in the
playerId
tag group on OpenField Cloud, with the prefix smt-
For the above example where the ID is 8477930, theplayerId
tag to add would be smt-8477930
For more information on how to add and apply tags, see OpenField Cloud Tags.
- Once all playerId tags have been created, apply them to the relevant Athlete.
- Carefully review each tag as this is how data from the SMT API will be associated with a given athlete profile in OpenField. Ensure each playerId is correct and only applied to one athlete.
