What is Positional Quality?
Positional Quality is the relative signal strength between the GPS Devices and the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) expressed in Positional Quality parameters specific to Catapult. The Positional Quality can be investigated in both the OpenField console and cloud.
How to set up Positional Quality
- The Positional Quality function requires that the Positional Quality module is applied to your OpenField account. If you want to add the module please Contact Support for assistance. Once the module has been added to your account, please complete a Fast Sync from the OpenField Console to view Positional Quality parameters in the Console.
Viewing Positional Quality Metrics in the OpenField Console
Graphing Positional Quality
- In the OpenField Console, open the desired Activity.
- Right click the desired Athlete from the Active Players Group and select Graph to graph the athletes.
- Right click on the Athlete's name at the end of the graph trace. See Graphing Data for more information.
- Select Graph Post Parameters.
- Select Positioning Quality.
- The Positional Quality will be graphed throughout the Activity.
Exporting Positional Quality from a CSV
- In the OpenField Console, open the desired Activity.
- Right click the desired Athlete from the Active Players Group and select Export Sensor CSV.
- Open the downloaded CSV. Positional data is collected every 0.1 second (10Hz) for the Activity and recorded in the Positional Quality (%), HDOP and #Sats columns of the CSV export.
Viewing Positional Quality Metrics on OpenField Cloud
-
From the OpenField Cloud, navigate to a Dashboard and create a new Widget for the Positional Quality. See Cloud Widgets for more information on creating Widgets.
-
Select Render as = Table and proceed to the Parameters Tab.
-
Scroll through the Parameter Categories until you find Positional Quality. From this drop down, add or remove parameters to configure the parameters visible in your table.
See Positional Quality Parameter Definitions for definitions of each of the Parameters. - When finished configuring your Widget, select Done.
- Open an Activity to view the Positional Quality data.
Positional Quality Parameter Definitions
GNSS Quality
The relative signal strength between the GPS Devices and the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for the selected Period/Activity(s) expressed as a percentage, with 100% being strongest GPS lock possible.
Average GNSS Quality
The average relative signal strength between the GPS Devices and the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for the selected Period/Activity(s) expressed as a percentage, with 100% being strongest GPS lock possible.
Minimum/Maximum GNSS Quality
The minimum/maximum relative signal strength between the GPS Devices and the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for the selected Period/Activity(s) expressed as a percentage, with 100% being strongest GPS lock possible.
HDOP
The dilution of precision which measures how much the geometrical arrangement of the satellites being measured will affect the precision of the result.
Average HDOP
The average dilution of precision which measures how much the geometrical arrangement of the satellites being measured will affect the precision of the result.
Minimum/Maximum HDOP
The maximum/minimum dilution of precision which measures how much the geometrical arrangement of the satellites being measured will affect the precision of the result.
Satellite Count
The number of fixed satellites per data point.
Average Satellite Count
The average number of fixed satellites per each data point (10Hz) for a selected Period/Activity(s).
Minimum/Maximum Satellite Count
The minimum/maximum number of fixed satellites per each data point (10Hz) for a Period/Activity(s).
