What is a Dual (LPS & GPS) OpenField Activity?
In OpenField 1.27 onwards, Catapult Vector S7 and G7 Devices are able to record and broadcast both LPS and GPS data to the one OpenField Activity.
Customers with a ClearSky Install are able to Collect LPS positional data from their ClearSky system, then record GPS data in the same session on the Device. No need to use two different Devices per Athlete or split up two different Activities!
When should I make use of a Dual OpenField Activity?
Dual OpenField Activities should be used when you understand ahead of time your Athletes will be in an environment where both a ClearSky System and the GPS/GNSS system can be utilised.
For example, your session may be planned with half of your athletes to start indoors where your ClearSky System is installed, and later for the session to go outdoors outside of the scope of your LPS system; the other half of your squad may be doing the opposite - simply create your OpenField Activity as a Dual Activity/Device Type, Record and Collect LPS Positional Data Live whilst the Devices are within your ClearSky System, then allow the Devices to achieve GPS lock and record GPS data when the Devices are outside!
Once the Devices are downloaded, both the LPS and GPS positional data will be available for analysis in the one Activity.
Can both the GPS and LPS Positional Data be Received Live when using a Dual Activity?
As of the initial Vector and OpenField 1.27 release, only the LPS/ClearSky Positional and Inertial Data can be received Live. The GPS Positional Data will be available in the Activity post Device Download, in the designated GPS periods.
