What is Stadium Mode?
Stadium Mode is a feature in OpenField that allows a User to connect to a 'Standalone' Broadcaster Machine, most commonly performed when using a Stadium Installed tracking system (ClearSky or GPS +).
Stadium Mode is enabled on your OpenField account by Catapult Support. Please contact our Support Team if you require this feature to be enabled on your account.
How to Connect to the Broadcaster via Stadium Mode:
Equipment:
- PC with OpenField installed (Stadium Mode enabled)
- Ethernet Cable
- USB/Ethernet Adaptor (if PC has no direct Ethernet port)
- Tracking System Installation Specific details (IP address of Broadcaster, Location of Ethernet Port) These details are provided by Catapult representatives per installation.
Method:
Preparing your PC
- Sync your PC to internet time, with OpenField closed. This ensures the Broadcaster Machine and your computer are in sync to maintain accurate live data.
- Search 'Date & Time Settings' in the Windows Taskbar Searchbar
- Select 'Additional date, time & regional settings' on the Right Hand side
- Select 'Set the time and date'
- Select the 'Internet Time' tab
- Tick the 'Synchronize with an Internet time server box' and Select 'Update now'
- Search 'Date & Time Settings' in the Windows Taskbar Searchbar
- Connect your PC to the appropriate Ethernet Port for the Installation, via an Ethernet cord (and USB/Ethernet Adaptor if necessary)
Setting up OpenField for data capture:
- Open OpenField
- On the Console Tile Screen select 'Stadium Mode'
- Select 'Setup Stadium Mode'
- Input the Installation specific IP address of the Broadcaster.
- Click OK, then select 'Start Stadium Mode'. This will open up the Activity Timeline UI
- Confirm that the 'Play' button has illuminated and intermittent 'seaweed' is flowing. This indicates the Tracking System is ready to detect devices and send live data to your OpenField.
- Press the 'Play' button in the top right corner of the Activity Timeline UI
- Create a New Activity, ensuring you select the appropriate 'Device Type' per the Tracking System in use (GPS, LPS (Clearsky) or Inertial (No Position Data)).
- Ensure Athletes are mapped to appropriate Devices
- Run Activity live as normal.
Troubleshooting:
Common issues that are seen during live Stadium Mode Activities
- No data coming through to OpenField (non-illuminated 'Play' button, no seaweed)
- Check for loose connection with Ethernet cable between PC and cable, and cable and Ethernet Port at venue
- Confirm correct IP was entered in 'Setup Stadium Mode'. (Stadium Mode can be re-accessed at any time during an activity by hitting the Tile button -> Stadium Mode)
- Disconnect from other network sources (Wi-Fi, other Ethernet connections, Network Switch connections between PC and Port etc.)
- Check Adapter settings on PC to ensure an appropriate IP Address can be provided to the machine by the network. Setting an appropriate static IP address on the adapter connection may be required.
- System may be temporarily down
- No Active Players appearing
- Confirm the 'Play' button been clicked
- Confirm Athletes have been mapped to devices
- Inaccurate/Strange data
- Confirm the PC’s time is synced to internet time
- Check that correct Activity device type was selected
For other issues or if the above troubleshooting has been exhausted, please contact Catapult Support.
