What is a Live Activity?
A Live Activity is an Activity that is analysed in real time while devices are actively being used. This is made possible by data collected via the GPS receiver.
Live Activities allow you to monitor and assess athlete performance instantly, making them especially valuable during training sessions and matches.
How to Record an Activity Live
- From the main Console interface, click Start to begin a new Activity.
- Open the Default Configuration menu by clicking your OpenField username in the top-right corner.
- Ensure the Console is set to the correct Recording Mode (Indoor or Outdoor).
- Create a New Activity via the Activity Timeline. See Activities for more guidance.
- Click the Play button in the top-right of the interface. The button will change to a Pause, indicating recording is in progress.
- Start a New Live Period and PIP Athletes as necessary. See Periods for more information on how to create and stop Periods.
- When the Activity is completed, stop all live periods and click the Pause button.
Handy Tips
-
Check Receiver Connection
Look for intermittent scrolling Orange Bars ("seaweed") when the receiver is connected. This confirms the receiver is connected and ready to collect live data.
-
Confirm Device Detection
When devices are detected, the Orange Bars will scroll faster and more densely. Athlete boxes will appear in the 'Active Players' athlete group to indicate which devices have been detected.
-
Optimise Receiver Setup
Position your receiver carefully for best Live Data Update Rates.
Be aware that:
- Physical obstructions can block signal
- 2.4GHz radio frequency interference may affect data quality
See GPS Receiver Overview for more details.
