Overview
The Athlete app gives the athletes the ability to see a brief summary of the activity they have completed. A few key points about this data are shown below:
- Athletes will see summary data for both activities they have uploaded via the app and activities that were completed with a team as long as they are using the same device that was mapped to them for both types of activity.
- The parameters available depend on the type of sport and position of the player.
For a baseball athlete who is a pitcher:
- Pitch Count
- Throw Count
- Accelerations
- Sprint Efforts (Note: in order for these to show up correctly please see the Summary Data Setup section)
- High Speed Distance
For a baseball athlete who is a position player:
- Swing Count
- Throw Count
- Max Velocity
- High Speed Distance (Note: in order for these to show up correctly please see the Summary Data Setup section)
- Sprint Distance (Note: in order for these to show up correctly please see the Summary Data Setup section)
For all other sports and positions:
- High Speed Distance (Note: in order for these to show up correctly please see the Summary Data Setup section)
- Sprint Distance (Note: in order for these to show up correctly please see the Summary Data Setup section)
- Total Distance
- Max Velocity
- Accelerations
Summary Data Setup
It is crucial that during onboarding you complete the following steps in the OpenField Cloud so your athletes will see accurate parameters within their Catapult Athlete app.
How to Set up High Speed Distance & Sprint Distance in OpenField Cloud
- Log in to OpenField Cloud and go to Settings.
- Select Parameters, then List Custom Parameters.
- If one named 'High Speed Distance' exists, confirm the calculation is correct and no further action is required. Repeat for Sprint Distance.
Note: these must be spelled out exactly how they are in this article, abbreviations such as HS Distance will not be read in the app. - If there is no parameter by that name, please follow the instructions here to create a new Custom Parameter
Example of a High Speed Distance calculation:
(Velocity Band 5 Total Distance + Velocity Band 6 Total Distance) / Session Count
Example of a Sprint Distance Calculation:
(Velocity Band 7 Total Distance) / Session Count
