Background and Context
OpenField Console is a complex desktop application that may have some or all functionality inhibited by Firewalls, Anti Virus programs, I.T Policies and Network restrictions.
General OpenField operation, Live Data Capture or Device Data download may not work due to the restriction on the local PC environment.
This Overview article provides general I.T/PC setup information to ensure OpenField and it's features performs as expected.

Firewall and Anti Virus Exceptions
It is recommended that the below OpenField executables are allowed through any Firewalls and Anti Virus programs active on the PC:
- Retriever.exe (used for downloading stored data on Vector Devices)
- Broadcaster.exe (used for connection OpenField software to Vector Receiver for Live Data collection)
- CatapultNTP.exe (used to assist OpenField Console with updating it's time/clock)
It is also recommended these programs are allowed through any Firewalls for all Network Types (Domain, Public, Private).
These programs are located in the install directory of OpenField, typically C:\Program Files\OpenField Release

The Catapult Sports folder and required configuration
The OpenField Console application requires the ability to create, read and write to/from the 'Catapult Sports' folder from the Documents directory on the PC, in order to operate.
This folder must be named exactly 'Catapult Sports' and be located in the Documents directory.

Web Ports and URLs for OpenField Sync
The OpenField Console application requires an internet connection and access to our OpenField Web servers in order to perform the initial installation, as well as OpenField 'Syncs' to sync up and down data and athlete information for the OpenField Account.

OpenField uses standard Web Ports, HTTPS Port 443 to establish a connection with our OpenField Web servers. It is recommended that the OpenField Console application has sufficient permissions to access standard Web Ports and HTTPS Port 443.
General Web URL's that require access by OpenField Console are listed below:
If your I.T Policies include whitelisted URLs, please ensure the above URLs are whitelisted.
If additional technical URLs or Web IP Addresses are required for an I.T Policy whitelist, please contact support.
PC Clock Time Sync
The OpenField Console Application requires an up to date clock in order to provide accurate Live Data during Live Activities.
It is strongly recommended the PC is allowed to sync to a Time Server that is accurate to internet time at all times, to match the timestamps on the Vector Devices received from the GPS satellite constellation.
Common issues with PC restrictions regarding Clock syncs usually are caused by the PC being forced to sync with a Domain or Network specific Time Server.
When the PC is not connected to this Domain Network the PC is susceptible to a Clock drift over time, and cannot update automatically to internet time.

Vector Receiver protocols
The Vector Receiver is a Network Device that communicates with Vector Devices via UWB RF signals, and passes the information received to OpenField Console via the Broadcaster.exe component.
The Vector Receiver can be connected to via USB or Wi Fi, and uses DHCP to assign an IP address to the connected PC.
When connecting wirelessly to your Vector Receiver, they will behave like a Wi Fi router; however they do not have access to the internet and some operating systems may try to re-connect to a known connection with internet connectivity.
You can fix this by setting your machine to not "Connect to a more preferred network".
Typical (static) IP Addresses for the Vector Receiver are below, it is recommended to avoid an IP Conflict with these addresses on your PC or PC's network.
- 192.168.4.2 (USB Interface)
- 192.168.5.2 (Ethernet Interface, for Stadium Receivers only)
- 192.168.6.2 (Wi Fi Interface)
The Vector Receiver communicates to the Broadcaster/OpenField Console via TCP and UDP over Port 8784, so this Port must be open for communication between Vector Receiver and OpenField Console/Broadcaster.exe
The Vector Receiver will appear as a USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget or similar in 'Network Adapters' Windows Device Manager, when connected to the PC.

OpenField Installer and Install Directory
The OpenField Installer is required to be ran in order to install the OpenField Console application.
The OpenField Installer requires:
- The ability to read and write to the Documents Directory (to detect and edit an existing Catapult Sports folder or create a new one) specifically the Installer will create a temporary file typically in C:\Users\Public\Documents\IdentifyUserDocsPath.txt to identify the Documents path of the PC
- The ability to write temporary files to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp during the installation process.
Vector Device, Receiver and Dock Drivers
As part of the OpenField installation process, a number of Drivers will be installed for the PC to communicate with Vector Devices, Receivers and Docks.
The below Drivers are required to be installed, and are found in the Install directory of OpenField, typically C:\Program Files\OpenField Release\Drivers
