Issue: Device Recording Didn't Last Full Session/Device Turned Off Early
Symptoms:
- Device's data (GPS & Inertial) does not last/is not recorded for the expected session length
- The Device turned off incidentally during the session
Expected Behaviour:
- The expected battery life for an S5/X4 device is 5+ Hours. The device should record data for this length of time so long as it is continually on.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Check the Raw File length in the Data Transfer Screen in OpenField, to see how long the recording lasted for. Note also the Start time to see if the Device started recording at the expected time. See Downloading Data from Devices for how to navigate to this screen to view Raw File details
- Check the Data Transfer screen for multiple downloaded Raws from the same session. This could indicate the device was turned off then back on again.
- If you believe the battery is discharging too quick, test the Device via a Discharge Test:
- Fully Charge the Device (Top LED will turn Solid Green when charged)
- Disconnect the Device from power, Turn the Device on and Leave the Device on to fully discharge
- Download the session from the Device
- Observe the 'Duration' column of that recording in the Data Transfer Screen
- Fully Charge the Device (Top LED will turn Solid Green when charged)
- If the Device has turned off in under 4 hours please Contact Support and attach the affected Raw Files. The Raw Files can be found in My Docs -> Catapult Sports -> OpenField -> Retriever -> Dated Folders (Date of recordings)
Else, if the unit passes the discharge test but continues to turn off early, Contact Support and attach the affected Raw Files for further troubleshooting, to determine the turn off cause.
